Susan is a long time customer of mine and I had been bugging her to update her Dining room to better reflect her unique style and personality. If you see the before and after you can better understand the changes that made the dramatic difference and took "eh" to WOW! First we changed out the tired wall to wall carpet and added a dark wide plank floor to work with the living room and Foyer. We then added an interesting ivory and Black area rug to frame the dining area along with the stunning and dramatic Black and Crystal, Mid Century Modern Chandelier. Next we needed to address the eye-browed Upholstered Cornice, that had been hanging for 20 years. The original window treatment did nothing to add to the space and made it seem smaller than it was. It called for something elegant and different to balance all if the drama. I decided to use layers, and designed the large offset Valance and Drapes with Crystal Fringe. It really frames the room and makes it appear too much Larger. We also added a lovely table scape, that includes a statuesque Crystal table Lamp for height, a simple crystal Pedestal Bowl with Moss balls for a touch of texture and color and a dramatic Gold Leaf Sunburst Mirror. It helps to offset the weight of the room and give it balance against the large China Closet opposite. The Center piece took some thought as Susan doesn't like flowers. So When I came up with the Murano Crystal Pedestal bowl I needed to fill it with something Dramatic and found these gorgeous Murano Black and gold Glass Balls. The end result is almost haunting in its ethereal quality.
